Our 40th Wedding Anniversary.
Weather was a little drizzly and a much cooler 17°.
After breakfast we completed out packing and prepared to say farewell to
Le Tuileries and head for London for the next part of our grand adventure.
Jim & Eileen drove us to Laval railway station where we said goodbye
and boarded the 11:15am train back to Paris. Arrived in Paris on time at
1:00pm. We had arranged a transfer from Mont Parnasse station to Gare du Nord
station. It was a car free day in Paris today but our hire car managed to pick
us up from one train and get us to Gare du Nord on time.
We cleared both French & British customs in Paris and boarded the
train at 3:15pm. Got some lunch on board and spent the 2 hour trip updating the
blog as there has not been time over the last 5 days to do it.
The Eurostat arrived in at London St Pancras station right on time at
4:30pm London time. Got a London cab (which all 4 of us plus luggage fitted in)
to The Arbor Hotel in Lancaster Gate where we will be based for the next 7
nights. Checked into the hotel and then went to a local pub for diner to
celebrate out wedding anniversary with Heather & Michael.
It is great to be back in London. It feels like home and is our favorite
city outside home.
