Sunday 18th September 2016
Weather this morning was a cool and pleasant 20° with overcast sky. It had rained overnight.
WE had s sleep in and a later breakfast before heading out about 10:30am. Bought tickets for the Hop-on-Hop-off bus. First stop was the Louve for a quick look then back on the bus to Notre Dame (the queue was too long to go inside) so we went into St Chapelle, which is now part of the Palace of Justice. St Chapelle was built between 1242ad &1248ad and has some amazing stained glass windows. While it isoriginal and very beautiful it was too over the top for my liking.  We then walked around to the bsck of Notre Dame, which ha the most amazing flying buttresses.
Lunch was next at a lovely café, pizza and a glass of wine.
Back on the bus to the Eiffel Tower then walked back to our hotel having an ice cream on the way.
Dinner tonight was at a café near the hotel we all shared an entrée of escargot ( snails) in garlic butter which was actually very tasty. Main course was grilled rump steak for me and roast chicken for Lynne. We shared crepes for desert.

Walked back to the hotel and had a night cap in the bar before going to our room for a cuppa and a rest.

Another early start this morning as we had to walk Amsterdam Central Railway Station as taxis do not pick up from our hotel due to the short distance to the station.
Weather was much cooler, 18° and it had rained overnight.
We made the trip to the station dragging our luggage navigating road crossings including tram tracks and at the same time watching for the inevitable bikes. Fortunately it was early so there were not too many around.
The train departed Amsterdam on time at 9:17am. We had first class tickets for the trip to Paris so it was very comfortable and the cabin steward served up tea, coffee drinks and light snacks. The train was a HVT (high velocity train) that reached a speed of 300kph between Brussels and Paris.
Arrived in Paris at 1:00pm (about 15 minutes late due to delays) and got a taxi tour hotel.
Once we had checked in and unpacked we had a walk around Paris. Saw the Eiffel Tower then the Arc de Truomphe and walked along the Champs Elysees back to our hotel. All up approx. 11.5klms.
Dinner in the hotel restaurant before having an early night.
